原本在網路上預定的車種為 Mazda 6 2.0，但這台車並沒有內建 GPS，因此租車公司後來補給了我一部 Hyundai 的 Santa Fe 2.7。老實說我對現代的車一點都不瞭解，原因是因為我對韓國車一向沒太大興趣，但既然有這樣的機會開開看韓國車也無妨。(後來後悔了…因為 2.7 開起來比我的 1.9 TDI 還無力…)
就在我前往旅館的路程中，順便逛了一圈 Downtown，才發現 Omaha 遠比我想像中的繁榮，不僅是高樓林立，也有許多大型展覽會場、博物館與知名飯店等…不過此時已經是傍晚，同時晚間還要趕緊處理這次出差至美國的公事，因此不能在市區迷路逗留太久，下榻旅館便驅車前往來到 Omaha 的主要目的地： Qwest Center，這個地方就像是台北世貿中心一樣，建築物相當宏偉，但這時沒太多的時間逗留觀光，正事辦完後便趕緊回到旅館休息，因為隔日一早仍有正事要辦。然而事實上，這天晚上根本睡不著，因為這時正是臺灣的白天…
睡不到三個小時，太陽起來了，吃了難吃的早餐後便趕緊再驅車到 Downtown 辦正事，這裡的路邊停車費 1 quater 就可以停一小時，一口氣投了 12 小時，因為今天要在 Downtown 一整天。quater 也就是 US $.25 ，是在美國最常用的硬幣，就有點像是臺灣的 10 元硬幣一樣。因此來到美國第一件事就是兌換一些 quater 以備不時之需，兌換 quater 方法有很多，最直接的方法當然是向商店或旅館的櫃台直接跟對方換，但我的方法是利用旅館的自動販賣機，塞進一美元的紙鈔後直接按退幣鍵，便會退給我 4 個 quater，快速又方便。
Omaha 因為位於 Nebraska 與 Iowa 兩州邊界，又緊鄰密蘇里河，因此早期便是個繁榮的貿易站。同時這裡的特產是牛排與富豪，頂頂大名的股神華倫．巴菲特(Warren Buffet)便是在這裡出生，前陣子喧騰一時的巴菲特慈善午餐也曾回到 Omaha 吃牛排…巴菲特也因此被稱為 Oracle of Omaha(奧瑪哈賢者)。
中午抽空在市區逛了逛，Omaha 真是個美麗又乾淨的城市，而且幾乎是純白的城市，我所謂的純白指的是全是白人的城市，鮮少看到黃色或深色人種。路上的行人也很親切，見到人都會打招呼。正想著這個城市的治安應該非常良好的時候，便隨即看到路口停下了一輛警車，警察衝下車制服了路旁的一名奇怪男子並押上警車。看到這一幕的我馬上決定趕回 Qwest Center 繼續我的正事…
這兩天其實沒啥時間好好逛逛 Omaha，也沒吃到著名的 Johnny’s Cafe。一來公事頗多，二來時差還沒調過來，往往到了傍晚就感到濃濃睡意，因此也無心在市區多作逗留。回到旅館後開始籌備隔天前往 Ames 的行程，然後強迫自己早點休息…
