這本書出版之前，很多人都已經看過翻拍的日劇了。這本書早在十多年前便出版過中譯本，但都已經絕版，因最近日劇的熱烈回響，而讓這本書再度復活。這本書是由主角木藤亞也的真實日記所集結而成，其中紀錄著亞也從 15 歲發現自己罹患脊髓小腦萎縮症到 21 歲喪失意識的心情與奮鬥歷程。至於亞也 21 歲到最後 25 歲時停止心跳之間的過程則是紀錄在亞也媽媽潮香的手記《生命の障礙》裡，這本書我就沒看過了。
從以上這簡短的介紹，大家很容易就可以猜到這本書中大概會是哪些內容，就是一個平凡天真的女孩，正值青春年華之時，發現自己的身體正逐漸走向滅亡。不安、自卑與無助在這數年之中不斷地折磨著她，但在親情、友情的幫助與陪伴下，亞也總是抱著感恩的心與對生命的渴望，僅管是多麼微不足道也希望自己能夠對其他人有所貢獻。
真實的故事總是最吸引人，因為這不再是人類為了滿足自己情慾的一種幻想。亞也 21 歲在筆記本上寫下最後一個字的那一刻，當時的我或許正在家裡拿著粉筆到處塗鴉或是跟國小同學一起騎著腳踏車。翻開書的第一頁，便是亞也的三張真實照片，老實說，我很不習慣這樣看著一個已經過世的陌生人的照片。在書中，亞也是個非常愛哭的女孩，總是認為自己對其他人來說只是個累贅，在身體難以行動的情況下，希望透過努力唸書能對其他人有所回饋。如今看著她的照片，讓我很想對她說：妳的確辦到了。
我還沒看過這部日劇，或許也不該去看日劇。因為日劇的女主角總是可愛到極點，特別是淚眼汪汪的女生更是讓我無法招架，屆時我喜歡的可能會是這部日劇的演員或者是配樂，而將真實的木藤亞也逐漸遺忘。
