一直以來建立一個遊戲算是我的夢想，也是我休閒生活快樂的來源，其中當然就是以重生的世界為主。但我為什麼想寫一個遊戲？一開始只是好奇，當時對電腦程式可以在短期內快速地達成一些簡單且可見的目標性質相當有興趣，但漸漸地這種感覺消失了，因為隨著系統架構愈大，撰寫程式的時間也隨之愈長，也愈難快速地得到結果。當時的我逐漸對寫程式失去動力，取而代之的是真的開始玩一些線上遊戲。所謂的真的開始玩，就是花費大量的時間與精力下去，不像大部份的遊戲大多玩個一兩周便不玩了。我玩過的線上遊戲也不算少，但真正有在玩的就屬無盡的任務和無盡的任務二這兩套遊戲了(其實或許該說是一套遊戲？)。我投入了兩年多的時間在這兩個遊戲上，受到的衝擊還真不小，也讓我瞭解到一個線上遊戲真的可以帶來很多的虛擬世界中的幻想與團體合作奮鬥的感覺。或許有些幼稚或不切實際，但當時在遊戲中與同伴們生死與共的感覺到現在仍然歷歷在目。就在這樣的經歷下，又重新燃起我對線上遊戲設計的熱忱，其目標很簡單，就是創造一個讓玩過的人難以忘懷的遊戲。創作這樣的遊戲其重點在於豐富的「人文歷史背景」、「團體合作環境」、「多樣化的目標」、「獨立個人特色」。讓每位玩家在遊戲中都是十分重要的存在，當一個人被其他人所需要時，便會產生責任感與使命感，接著就是掉進無盡的深淵(抖)。
順便談談玩家沉迷於遊戲中的問題。遊戲本身並非吞食人心的猛獸，而是現實的社會不容許玩家們投注過多的時間在這上面。如果現實世界中每天有機器人幫助人類進行各種基本生產與研發，那麼就算所有的人類都整天沉迷於自己喜好的事物上也無不可。但人類的文明仍未進步到這個階段，現在光玩遊戲仍然不能填飽肚子，真實的人們不能像遊戲中的角色一樣不需吃喝一樣可以生存。因此一個好的遊戲創造者也應當避免玩家過度沉溺於遊戲中而廢寢忘食，看看新聞頻道上便有許多玩遊戲玩過頭而暴斃的例子。因此在建立一個讓人愛不釋手的遊戲之前，也必須避免成為殺人幫兇，僅管其暴斃原因大多出自於玩家本身自制能力不足外，但其遊戲創造者仍間接地殺害了一個生命。因此遊戲創造者有責任避免這樣的事件發生。
但創造一個理想的遊戲何嘗簡單，需要投注大量的人力財力，燃燒許多工程師的腦細胞才得以完成，這些都是顯見成本。但在這個產業中我想大多有一個特點，就是大多數的遊戲創造者都是工作狂，他們可以不用高薪(甚至免費)，可以每天工作 24 小時，就是要把理想中的遊戲完成，讓玩家可以快點進入這個虛幻的世界解放現實的束縛。僅管這些遊戲創造者甘之如飴，但完成這個夢想需要的隱藏成本是什麼？我想時間是最大的顯見成本，但損失的這些時間背後所代表的各種機會流失或生活品質降低對於創造者本身則是最大的隱藏成本。有人說只要不會後悔，就去做吧！這是什麼鬼話，誰知道會不會後悔…
